The Paper Cinema at the Battersea Arts Centre

I was introduced to The Paper Cinema sitting on the floor of a dark, hushed, crowded room in Edinburgh. The screen was luminous - we were all hypnotized, like children watching their very first magic lantern show. This is special stuff. They will be performing at the Battersea Arts Centre in London for most of February. Do not miss it, you fool.

An Old Friend

This one was an experiment. We reconnected while I was digging through old work stashed at my mother's house. The face has character, though perhaps not much intelligence. Below, the same individual contemplates our wintry garden.

Say Hello to My Little Friends

Over Christmas I made some new puppets. They're made out of found scraps of fabric (cashmere, felt and tweed) and stuffed with the kind of fluffy white thing you find inside pillows and winter jackets (not down). I also put some rice in them to make them weigh more. It makes them nicer to hold. Here they are:

These ones are twins. The camera makes them shy.

The puppets now live in the Red Door Gallery on Victoria Street in Edinburgh, where they are waiting to be adopted by some nice people.
